Fred enjoyed most of his traveling adventures during his retirement years.
Within the USA he would primarily travel by train or auto with his wife, Nita. He attended many events, such as his Loras Academy reunion, the Bob Hope Desert Classic, the Marine Corps Birthday Ball, as well as exploring the many locations that hosted his Master’s track competitions.
His passion for a while was Baja California, Mexico. There he would enjoy his land, authentic food, relaxing by the ocean, and mingling with the locals. Also, with Nita, he embarked on several Pacific Ocean cruises.
Besides his overseas travels to East and Southeast Asia during the Korean war, Fred, later in his life made several trips to the Philippines, the Country of his Father’s ancestry. He became, as many older people do at this age, very interested in his roots.
He especially loved the big island of Hawaii where his sister-in-law Ramona and her husband lived and made many trips there accompanied by his wife, brother, children, and other family members. A sad moment occurred during his cancer illness when he was unable to make this trip again.
