Born Frederick Gallardo, Fred added his middle name, Edward, himself, and his brother, Ed, would use Frederick as his middle name, it was a pact between them.
Fred’s father, Fulgencio (Frank), is of Filipino ancestry, and his mother, Josephine (Joyce), is Polish. Coincidentally, also, Nita’s father is Filipino, and her mother is Polish. As Fred never took a DNA test, but his daughter did, her results confirm and continue to confirm Fred’s ancestral roots in the Southern Philippines and Eastern Europe (and also Nita's ancestral roots in the Northern Philippines and Eastern Europe).
Fred became very interested in his Filipino heritage, especially, later in his life and connected with some extended family living in the Los Angeles area, which led to him taking several trips to the Philippines. His Father’s region of origin is the Bohol Province.
